Yasmine and me met quite a while ago because of some strange astral connections.
She’s a natural born illustrator and art flood in her veins although her scientific studies.
Thanks to Thibault’s help, we will discover the place where she works on her new projects, as well as some past experimentations with animation and comics. Here is my partner in crime, Yasmine. Enjoy.
Last week KSAT had a magic speed date at Mesh Print Club in Rotterdam. Thanks to the amazing help of Gita and Mike from Atelier Mike Leach, we picked up the basics of silk screen printing and did our first tryout with our brend new screens! PROUD OF IT! Check out Martina working in the silk screen workshop, and how we build up the screens…

Iris is a little super energic girl. She lives in a sunny apartment with two friends, where she re-created her little world. Her room is full of magic and charm. Iris works with words, old pictures and documents and she dresses up in bright colors. We talked in front of a coffee and discussed about her dreamy world, about bingo and her portuguese grandparents.

KSAT is ready for the first LAUNCH EVENT of this 7th edition, the REBELLION cycle!
We’re landed in ROTTERDAM city, where a group of international artists gathered to work on the common theme of REBELLION. The first chapter is going to be host by beloved Post–Office, in Rotterdam.
All the artists are invited to create within the idea of « Rebellion in the youth » and they will present their works in a collective artpiece in the shape of a book and a personal installation.
KSAT#7 vol.1 14/11/13 (The Netherlands) is:
- a collective exhibition
- a presentation of KSAT project
- live performance and activities (such as live silk screening)
- a cosy place to heat up during wintertime with good sounds and good food
- a gathering for people interested in experimenting through arts, design, performance, music and video.
- the good occasion to get to know KSAT and apply for participating to the next activities of the project (abroad!)
In a quite cold dutch night I visited KAZUMA EEKMAN apartment (and studio) in west Rotterdam. He lives with his friend Lizar and their house is full of little artpieces, tools, puppets, coloured posters and memories of past trips. We talked about fake dollars, zwarte piet and dutch maccaroni. Kazuma joined KSAT project in 2010, for its 3rd edition about « Mind Trips » and he never left us after that. He’s half dutch and half japanese. You’ll see him in december again, participating to KSAT 7th issue exhibition, in Post Office, Rotterdam.

This is a report of my morning encounter with JULIE THISSEN. She’s a freshly graduated product designer, with a special interest for testing different materials, pure forms, hand binding and patterns. Julie has a double french and dutch passport and spent her latest years travelling in several countries where she developed interesting design projects. Now she returned back to her basics, in Rotterdam. That’s where she lives and work. A nice coloured studio in the heart of Delfshaven.
To know more about the beautiful works of Julie, you should check her new website.
Let me introduce you to Marilou. She’s dutch, she likes to collect old and new memories, and she has a fluffy cat. Marilou created An Happy Family, an online and offline platform to share ideas and projects within artists. Besides this, she’s also participating to KSAT since a couple of years. This portrait was shot in The Hague in November 2013. Music: Quantic / In the key of blue
